Auckland Events

Combine your visit to Auckland New Zealand with one of the many world class events held in the city each year. The peak festival time is March, due to the kind Auckland weather at that time of year. If you are visiting New Zealand in March, it is advisable to pre-book your Auckland accommodation.

One of the most popular local events held at the Auckland Showgrounds is the Royal Easter Show, where farmers and city slickers meet, and rides and show-bags mingle with cattle and produce.

For March celebrations of culture and art - visit the Pasifika Festival the South Pacific's largest Pacific Islands' event, or the biennial Auckland Festival celebrating the best of theatre, music, dance and the performing and visual arts.

Take a tour around Auckland's Waitemata Harbour while you run or walk with over 70,000 other participants in the Round the Bays run in March.

Finally the Auckland Wine and Food Festival in March allows you to sample the finest wines, beers and produce from New Zealand and international suppliers.

Mid-winter sees the Matariki Festival, a significant festival for the Maori where they reflect on the past and the future and reconnect with the sea and land.

Travel Auckland's heritage by the Heritage Festival in September which celebrates the founding of the city and its heritage buildings and sites.

As it is known as the City of Sails, it is no surprise that the Anniversary Day Regatta on the Waitemata Harbour is one of the main events to celebrate Auckland's birthday in January each year. Get a map of Auckland and go exploring!
